If I can buy a good quality watch in 100$, why should I spend 4000$ on a Rolex or Patek Philippe?

How can you justify charging 4000$ for a simple watch? What extra do I get? Is it merely a show-off? Or is it a good investment?|||Those high end watches are made with gold %26amp; jewels, %26amp; are WELL made. That said, get what you want.

p.s. If you ever want to sell the high end watch, it will only have gone up in value, where the $100 watch will be worthless.|||Quality. Shows wealth if you're into that.|||my dad has a rolex. he's had the watch for about 14 years. no scratches or anything. it keeps the time accurate all the time, waterproof, durable yet classy. and he works on porsches a lot so he needed a watch that wouldn't shatter. I think i have even heard they are bullet proof. it is a good investment.|||Obviously Rolex, Patek, Mavado and a few others are superior time pieces with a quality few watches could surpass.

With that said, they are also showpieces for the rich and famous (or wannabe rich and famous) much like over sized diamond earrings and bracelets for the women.

Why should you spend $4000 on a watch? They do it because they can.
