Why are watches like Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Girard-Perregaux so Pricey?

Are they really superior time pieces (mechanically) compared to watches such as Rolex, Omega, Oris etc?|||YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR .
