Patek Phillipe is one of the most respected watch makers. It's part of the big 3 - the finest and most expensive watch brands, along with Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet. None of these are names that most have heard of and if you ask the average person what the best brand of watch is, they'd probably say Rolex just because it's more hyped and more mass produced.
In reality, Patek watches are much better made. Many steps are still done by hand and the watches themselves are much more complicated. A Patek watch will start at around 5 or 6 thousand, like a Rolex but goes up in price dramatically for the more complicated models. Many run over $100,000.
