How do I find out if my Vacheron Constantin watch is a fake?

I received it as a gift and it does appear genuine. It has various numbers on it which appear to be serial numbers. Also has Vacheron Constantin on all the internal mechanisms and on the face etc... Is there any way i can tell if it is real? It simply came in a jewellers bag...|||You can pay on the website for a C of A, but you will have to send it in.

A certificate of authenticity can only be established after the timepiece has been physically examined by the experts of the Heritage department. The watch must therefore be presented to them via our boutique or brand retailers or sent directly to the following address:

Vacheron Constantin

Heritage

10, chemin du Tourbillon

Case postale 95

1228 Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva

Switzerland

This certificate will be issued at a cost of CHF 850.- excluding VAT plus shipment and insurance costs, payable in advance.

Only one certificate of authenticity will be delivered per watch. In case of loss or theft of the said certificate, it can only be replaced by a "Duplicate of the Certificate of Authenticity", at a cost of CHF 400.-, excluding VAT.

The establishment of a duplicate meets the same requirements as that of a certificate of authenticity. A physical examination of the timepiece by the experts of the Heritage department is also compulsory.

This will tell you once and for all!|||go to a place where you could buy one and they'd tell you.
